The Inter Regional Contract consortium members include LUPC, SUPC and HEPCW and for the first time Value Wales. Presentations in the spectacular Searcy’s Restaurant & Bar at the top of the building present a unique set of technical and logistical challenges, particularly for events that commence before dark. The split-level glass dome affords breathtaking views of London, but needs powerful display technology to hold the attention of an audience.

Saville provided a nine screen Infinite Plasma wall for premier software company SuperDerivatives, with sound reinforcement and moving lights to project logos onto the glass which could be seen at street level.

He took up his new appointment in September and is now responsible for directing and co-ordinating all aspects of the planning, organisation and completion of Saville AV/IT engineering projects in the south. His role also includes the management and training of all the company’s southern installation engineers and project managers.

Despite the obvious economic pressures on capital projects, Saville has continued to develop its AV integration business in London and the south east, appointing five new senior technical sales staff in the past year.

Southern sales manager Darren Pitt said: “We are pleased to welcome Clive back to the company. His experience and expertise is a valuable boost for our highly skilled technical team”.

In addition to integrated AV/IT systems technology and bespoke videoconferencing, he will be introducing the growing range of exclusive Saville products. Karl has ten years experience in the reseller channel both in the City of London and most recently across the south west of England. His roles have included account management and development of audio visual workplace projects for many blue chip clients and public sector bodies.

Archipod is a revolutionary, self contained facility, specifically conceived to be efficient, ergonomic and unusual and to complement a garden landscape. Designed as an insulated sphere 3m in diameter, the ‘Pod’ is constructed predominantly from timber, the world’s most replenishable construction material and is insulated to a standard exceeding that of current Building Regulations. A larger 4m version is also available.

The structure is built from prefabricated sections so that all the parts can be carried through a house and into a back garden. Because of its unique shape and the generous natural light from the roof dome, the ‘Pod’ actually looks and feels bigger on the inside than the outside.

The unit is delivered, installed and equipped as an integrated package, including a state-of-the-art High Definition videoconferencing system. Only an electricity supply and a broadband connection from the house are required and planning permission is not normally necessary.

Working in partnership with Saville, Archipod designer Chris Sneesby said: “Having a strong environmental policy is very important to us. One of our major influences was frustration at the commuting lifestyle, with its attendant road congestion, air and noise pollution, road rage, running costs and time loss. We wanted to do something to hopefully encourage more people to work from home by providing a high quality working environment without the need to commute and reduce environmental impact by its use.”
